Heard Of Wabi-Sabi? It's A New Design Trend Taking Hold Across The Globe

Design Trends 2024

We love design trend-spotting here at The MAHAH Network and so we were delighted to discover that sustainability is cementing its spot in 2024’s interior design trends.

Eco friendly materials, earthy colour’s and natural, raw interiors are all the rage, it would seem!

Japanese minimalism has also become an emerging design force in recent years and the essence of the Wabi Sabi aesthetic is the style behind the new trend for “raw Interiors”

What is the principle of wabi-sabi?

In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi is a world view centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection.

The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete” in nature.

It is prevalent in many forms of Japanese art.

How does it look?

Wabi Sabi interior designs often feature sparse furniture arrangements and open floor plans, which create a sense of spaciousness and allow natural light to flow freely.

Where can we see examples of Wabi Sabi Design?
