Maximalist Cork Home
Every so often, we feature a home from one of the 500,000 people on our MAHAH Facebook Group. Our members love to share their previous DIY Projects or words of wisdom with the group.
This week, we are featuring the home of Geraldine Dorgan whose unique home speaks for itself, making her posts a firm hit with our members.
Unsurprisingly, Geraldine, who lives in Bartlemy in Cork, has had a very interesting career to date.
After spending time at Limerick Scholl of Art & Design in the 1990’s, she went on to work as a visual merchandiser for Woolworths in England, a Visual Manager for Debenhams, a Visual Director at Perry Street Market Cafe and she has also worked with Weddings By Franc.
A self described maximalist at heart, Geraldine says “I love photography, the weird, the wonderful , creepy abandoned places. I have a room shelved floor to ceiling with props, scarred dolls, vintage quirky props which I use in photography and display. I am a member of Fermoy camera club. I also work with Fermoy Street Arts where we create visual days out. Making puppets, characters and props. The props I have made have become part of my home decor. If you look at the photos I have named them as the props I have made”.
So where does she stumble across all these incredible pieces? “I buy at carboot sales, TX Maxx, Facebook Market Place, charity shops. We have an excellent carboot sale each month in my neighbouring village Rathcormac”.
No doubt we’ll be seeing more of Geraldine’s creative genius in the coming months!
